IN JAPANESE TRADITION,
付喪神TSUKUMOGAMI
OLD OBJECTS CAN AWAKEN AND BECOME SPIRITS
is a series of handcrafted ceramic pieces inspired by Japanese folklore and mythology. In traditional belief, a tsukumogami (付喪神) is an everyday object that gains a spirit after a hundred years, becoming a bridge between the material and the divine. Each sculpture reinterprets this idea through contemporary form, embodying symbolic figures — guardians, tricksters, and protectors — that explore the boundary between stillness and vitality, tradition and reinvention.
